For Families
NERAM encourages families to visit and enjoy the assortment of exhibitions we have on offer. While we are not the size of a state gallery, we still have six exhibition spaces as well as the Museum of Printing downstairs for visitors to engage in and explore.
Please note that children under 12 years must be supervised at all times.
Family-friendly facilities
NERAM is a wheelchair and pram-accessible site. Movement to the museum from the carpark, and around our galleries should be no trouble at all. You can find a nappy changing table and nappy disposal bin in our ladies’ toilets.
Our Kid’s Art Cart offers a variety of free children’s art activities that connect to our exhibitions and collections. We endeavour to have this available during all opening hours, but this can vary due to exhibition programming and events.
We understand sometimes kids just what to get outside and run around. Outside our museum is a Sculpture Walk of art installations dotted throughout our outdoor areas for your family to explore.
Are the exhibitions family-friendly?
There is always a variety of exhibitions to view at NERAM. Our exhibition programming can include children’s exhibitions, so be sure to check our Exhibitions program to find out more!
Our friendly staff and volunteers will always endeavour to let parents with children know of sensitive content for specific exhibitions. Do not hesitate to ask at the front desk should you have any concerns.
Coming during the School Holidays?

Anything else I should know?
Galleries and museums are climate-controlled environments, and after a while might start to feel cold. If you are planning a longer visit, we encourage bringing along light cardigans to shrug off any chill during your visit.
