The University of New England School Acquisitive Art Prize (UNESAP) and Let’s Hang It! exhibition was established in 2004 by the Faculty of Education (formerly the Faculty of Professions) at UNE with the purpose of promoting interest in the visual arts and encouraging talented young artists in regional New South Wales schools. It is now in its thirty-first year.
In 2024, more than 550 artworks from 46 schools in the region were submitted to the award. A selection panel of art and education professionals selected the finalists across four categories – Infants, Primary, Junior Secondary and Senior Secondary. Last year, author, illustrator and graphic designer Trish Donald was invited to judge the four First Prize-winning artworks which became a part of the UNE art collection and will be displayed around the University campus in Armidale.
UNESAP Let’s Hang It! is open to all students within the designated catchment area. The online submission period will be 28 April – 16 May 2025 and the exhibition will be on display at NERAM 25th July – 10th August.
