We also have a large selection of affordable gifts for the young and the young at heart, including a wonderful assortment of arts and crafts, interactive children’s books, and colourful toys. Alternatively there are limited edition prints by local artists which will also be on sale through the shop. Gift vouchers for our art classes as well as for the shop are also available, just ask the friendly volunteers at the front desk. These unique items are the perfect Christmas gifts for that special someone, and all profits from shop sales go towards NERAM’s exhibitions, education and public programs. Our shop is open until 6pm on Sunday 22 December for your last-minute shopping.
If original works of art are your interest then why not consider purchasing from one of the current Selling Exhibitions. Robert Cobcroft is a photographic artist working in a pictorialist style, treating the photographic image like a painting, giving it a beautifully styled finish, perfect for hanging in a home setting. Val Allen is an emotive painter, her bold, expressive works capturing the essence of coastal and inland landscapes. These works range in size so can suit any preference or need.
If you have visitors for the Christmas period bring them along to the gallery to see our current exhibitions Capturing Flora, Splash!, and Herbert Badham: Observing the Everyday. Capturing Flora is touring from the Art Gallery Ballarat and showcases 300 years of botanical art in Australia. Splash! is an exhibition from the permanent collection of bold abstract works focussing on the expressive use of colour and shape. This exhibition also houses Margaret Olley’s The Yellow Room Triptych recently acquired for NERAM’s permanent collection through generous support. Herbert Badham: Observing the Everyday is an exhibition of paintings of the everyday from the interwar period, addressing themes such as the beach, the city and leisure, highlighting Badham’s choice of subject matter.
