Do you want to meet people, learn new skills, discover art and culture, enjoy social events and make a difference within our local community?
If this appeals to you then you should apply to join the NERAM Volunteer Program.
“We are inviting people from across New England to join our team of volunteers and get involved in the region’s premiere cultural and tourism facility,” said Robert Heather, Art Museum Director. “Without our volunteers NERAM wouldn’t be able to function effectively and we appreciate their support every day.”
“Volunteers at NERAM put a lot of time and effort into helping us showcase our collections, display exhibitions and provide a great visitor experience for everyone who comes to the art museum.”
“We have a fantastic group of people who come from all walks of life and across all age groups”, he said. “Young people can also gain knowledge, skills and useful experience working here towards their future careers.”
“You don’t need to know a lot about art to become a volunteer at NERAM, but everyone learns more about art when volunteering here, in a fun way.”
This year we are expanding the number of ways which NERAM volunteers can help the Museum and you can sign up to:
- work in our front of house and museum shop;
- assist with installing exhibitions and displays;
- support our community and public programs;
- work behind the scenes with library, archiving and research;
- help with students and children in our schools and educational programs.
NERAM volunteers attend regular training days and get-togethers to provide them with opportunities to learn more about the exhibitions, displays and collections as well as other practical skills and knowledge.
You are invited to join us for the Volunteer Information Session at 12.30pm on Monday 31 October 2016 at NERAM where you can learn about the volunteer program and application process, hear from some current NERAM volunteers and have a look behind the scenes at the Museum.
Application forms and volunteer position descriptions are available online at the NERAM website at www.neram.com.au/support/volunteering/
