What a strange sense of limbo we are experiencing at present, being kept from so many activities we previously regarded as part of normal everyday life. This includes of course activities and gatherings at our beloved NERAM but despite the uncertainty this lull in life is a great time to plan for the future.
So the Friends of NERAM Fundraising sub committee has not been idle and has been making plans for when we can meet up again. We have been looking at our ‘normal’ events and working out how we can make them happen as much as possible.
We are planning one At Home this year, this month in fact, on the afternoon of September 27th, at two of our members’ home in the heart of Armidale. Their inspirational home has a great art collection as well as a lovely garden to meet in. Details of this will come out closer to the time and will be dependent on what the regulations for meetings in homes are at that time but as is currently standard it will be an RSVP event.
Then on the weekend of November 21st – 22nd we plan to hold our mini Sculpture Ramble at a member’s property on Kellys Plains Rd. Again more advice closer to the time but it will be a great opportunity to get out into a lovely garden and enjoy a whole range of art, related activities and retail opportunities.
The High Tea, which is normally held in early Spring and which is the most vulnerable of our events, has been postponed until February 2021.
Of course these plans can change at any moment but would you please put these dates in your diary and we will notify you how and when we can proceed.
We have been working on a fabulous new Friend’s activity which will involve us being together more often and there have also been exciting developments with the Aboriginal Keeping Place. Will keep you posted.
In the meantime, if you haven’t been to NERAM recently, do go and see the fabulous 100% NERAM exhibitions- ALL the galleries are exhibiting our own collections with a special emphasis on the Coventry Collection.
Don’t miss it – it comes down at the end of next month in time for the annual Packsaddle exhibition which will be opening on October 30th ,celebrating Packsaddle’s 35th anniversary.
Cheers from the Friends of NERAM Fundraising sub committee.
