$20This is an amazing opportunity for children to learn from the established artist Debbie Taylor Worley.
Weaving has been used as a method to create all kinds of tools including food tools, baskets, jewellery, fishing nets and skin cloaks. Traditional Aboriginal weaving is of great importance to Aboriginal women. Weaving is a calming and meditative process. Tailored to be age-appropriate, younger children can have some fun learning to weave a “God’s Eye”. Using a combination of natural and man-made materials, they will learn this easy weaving technique to create a colourful ornament. Older children will be taught how to make string from natural grasses and helped to create a small basket or bowl.

ARTIST BIO 2023
Debbie Taylor-Worley’s art practice is everchanging and multidisciplinary, working primarily with clay and textiles. “The longer I am in the art industry, the more diverse my practice gets!” A “hands on” artist, she relishes the making process. As a Gamilaraay woman, Taylor-Worley uses an intuitive art-making process to reconnect to Ancestral roots. By using earth, natural water sources, landscape, and other natural mediums, she treads a path of connection to culture, Country and the spirituality of her Ancestors.
