The Meditative Doodle & Beyond

Doodling is generally considered a waste of time, of little value other than occupying one’s hand while listening to something boring.
In recent years doodling has had an upgrade and revival because of the acknowledged benefits of drawing mindfully. Without being ‘artistic’ you can draw your way into a relaxed state called The Flow, which is calm and alert without being sleepy. The Flow can be achieved many ways, it’s how we feel when totally absorbed in an activity and when you finish that activity you feel like you are returning refreshed.
There are a number of doodling schools that have sprung up, Zen Doodle and Zen Tangle for example. Their names reflect the meditative purpose of doodling.
With paper and pen Jan Clark will lead you into this pleasant way of drawing without stress or pressure to do something ‘real’. This is a process for you to enjoy.
If you like to make things that are useful, besides the pleasure of creating, Jan can show a number of ways to use your doodles.

You will leave the class with a new respect for doodling and a very accessible way of creating with very few materials needed.

Terms and Conditions
- All bookings for events, art classes and workshops require payment in full at the time of booking
- A minimum number of 6 students required for classes to proceed, please book and pay before Monday September 4, 12pm
- Please be aware that once bookings close, we are unable to offer a refund
- If the class does not proceed, you will be refunded any cash amount
- NERAM events have a limited capacity and use a ticketing system. Bookings are essential
- Student contact details may be passed on to facilitators for communication purposes
