Make something beautiful!
Learn how to design, carve and print a simple linocut that you can then go on printing at home.
Suitable for beginners or more experienced printmakers looking for new techniques or a new project. We will look at the design process, think about textures and backgrounds, demonstrate carving techniques and the inking and printing process.

Materials required for class:
Bring drawings, sketches and/or black & white photos to be used as reference to create your linocut – we will look at how to translate these to lino in the first class. Lino cutting tools, proofing ink and rollers will be provided, but you will need to bring the following items:
- Lino block (available from Armidale Framing and Art Supplies)
- Visual arts diary or photocopy paper for notes and sketches
- Pencil, eraser, sharpener
- Baking paper or tracing paper
- Carbon paper if you have some
- Roll of kitchen paper towelling
- Black sharpie or other permanent marker x 2 – fine and thick
- Masking tape
- Disposable gloves (optional) – blue nitrile powder-free gloves are best (don’t get black) and are available at Rapid Clean.
- Relief printing paper: Ho Sho rice paper, Arches 88 or Somerset – available at Armidale Framing and Art Supplies. No need to have this paper the first week, as we will discuss paper at the first class.
- Selection of coloured or patterned paper if you have any (optional and not needed first week)
- Watercolours or acrylics and brushes if you already have them (optional and not needed first week)
- Apron if you have one
- Closed-toe shoes essential

- All bookings for events, art classes and workshops require payment in full at the time of booking
- A minimum number of 8 students required for classes to proceed, please book and pay by Wednesday 26th Feb 2025 to ensure classes go ahead
- Please be aware that once bookings close, we are unable to offer a refund
- If the class does not proceed, you will be refunded any cash amount
- NERAM events have a limited capacity and use a ticketing system. Bookings are essential
