Discover the majestic Clarence River and the coastal fringe down to the Wooli River in a new series of paintings by artist Robert Moore.
River Towns is a new exhibition of works by Clarence Valley based painter Robert Moore which will open at the New England Regional Art Museum in Armidale at 6.00pm on Friday 23 June 2017.
“Many residents of the New England region are very familiar with the landscapes and areas which have inspired the work of Grafton based artist Robert Moore and will find something to love in this exhibition,” said Robert Heather, Art Museum Director. “Robert’s art reflects the headlands, river mouths, coastal flats and vegetation which influences his daily life, immersed in the bush and water of his environment.”
Robert Moore studied art in Toowoomba at the Darling Downs Institute of Advanced Education in the early 1980s and has exhibited with Ray Hughes Gallery in Brisbane and Sydney in the 1990s and more recently with Bruce Heiser Gallery in Brisbane since the early 2000s.
His iconic drawings of cows heads and cars were signature fabric designs with Mambo surfwear company for many years appearing on clothing, backpacks and many other products.
Robert Moore has had major exhibitions exploring his passion for cars, music and sports at galleries around Australia including Ipswich Art Gallery, Lismore Regional Gallery, Heide Museum of Modern Art and Tamworth Regional Gallery. He was also an artist-in-residence at Amberley Airforce Base near Ipswich as part of the RAAF’s 80th anniversary.
His paintings and other artworks have also been collected by a number of public galleries including the National Gallery of Australia, Queensland Art Gallery, National Gallery of Victoria, Artspace Mackay, Gold Coast City Gallery and the Holmes a Court Collection in Perth.
This will be his first solo exhibition at the New England Regional Art Museum and features a series of large scale paintings and drawings as well as unique painted books.
