Creating Memories is a partnership between NERAM and the Home Nursing Group to combat social isolation among elderly members of the community. Several residents of Autumn Lodge visited the gallery over a period of months and while there they met and formed a close relationship with students from Armidale High school.
Together they went on a journey, discovering artworks, hearing stories about the lives of the residents, playing computer games, sharing ideas and thoughts about life, ageing, art and memories. These heartfelt moments have all been captured on film and have created new memories for both young and old to share with their families and friends, and happily with us, in their exhibition Creating Memories.
By the end new friendship and new memories were formed and NERAM would like to thank everyone who particated in this important project, particulary Laszlo Szabo for his creative input who understood what it meant for all involved to share personal and sometimes painful memories.
