Saturday 31 August 10:30am
In conjunction with the current exhibition Print Circle: The Sheltering Tree, NERAM is hosting a series of Conversations with Printmakers.
On Saturday 31 August, artists Tanya Crothers and Helen Best will be at NERAM for informal discussions about their work, the exhibition, and printmaking in general.
The theme Sheltering Tree and provoked a variety of responses from Print Circle, a small group of women printmakers established in 1970. For some, the ‘sheltering tree’ is just that. For others, the words have meaning as a symbol of friendship, protection, hope and solace. And for others again there may be deeper meanings linked to spirituality.Traditionally printmakers have produced limited editions in various media including etching , lithography, screenprinting, wood and lino cuts. Nowadays members of the Print Circle, a small group of women printmakers established in 1970, also embrace other techniques such as solar plate etchings, mono prints, hand-coloured unique state prints and prints using computer generated technologies.
